CGT Research Series Phase 2: Understanding Use Cases of the Common Ground Taxonomy

Resource Summary

This report is part of a research series by the Hong Kong Green Finance Association (HKGFA) on integrating sustainable finance markets within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). The series examines the International Platform on Sustainable Finance’s (IPSF) Common Ground Taxonomy (CGT). The CGT provides a comprehensive mapping and comparison between the EU and China’s taxonomies, an initial step towards the convergence of global standards of green definitions. This Phase 2 report focuses on the understanding of the use cases of the CGT in Hong Kong and beyond. It examines the key potential usage of the CGT in Hong Kong and the rest of the Greater Bay Area. Given the 3 primary groups of users of the CGT, the reports outlines 6 use cases across key areas including financing and investment activities, regulation, disclosures and policy setting: - Debt Financing - Investment Strategies - Benchmark & Index - Corporate Disclosures - Investors Disclosures - Polity Setting
