Attitudes of Banking Customers Towards the UN SDGs - Global Survey

Resource Summary

This report is the second in a two-part series exploring banking customers’ attitudes towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Part 1 details the survey methodology and provides contextual background while Part 2 presents the survey findings. The findings offer valuable insights for all banks, whether Islamic or conventional, aiming to understand retail customers’ awareness and attitudes towards the UN SDGs. Some of the findings include: ● 90% (9 in 10) say it is important their bank provides products that are aligned to the UN SDGs ● 96% (19 in 20) say that it’s important that the finance products they purchase fit with the values and ethics of their life ● 71% (7 in 10) say the alignment of financial products with sustainability would encourage them to use their bank’s products more The report forms a key output from the Global Islamic Finance & UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) Taskforce launched by the UK Government's HM Treasury department and UKIFC in 2020.
