About The GCBC

Bringing Together Leading Organizations to Enhance Capacity Building on Sustainable Finance.

Capacity building is central to mobilizing climate finance in and for emerging markets and developing economies. It closes climate and climate finance competency gaps, enabling financial institutions and professionals to identify and address climate risks, finance mitigation and adaptation opportunities, and integrate climate considerations into financial decision-making.

The Global Capacity Building Coalition was launched at COP28 to help meet this goal by bringing together expert organizations to help accelerate and scale capacity building and offer technical assistance for financial institutions and professionals in emerging markets and developing economies. We equip institutions with the tools, the network, and the insights to manage climate risks, finance mitigation and adaptation, and voluntarily integrate climate into financial decisions.

Mary L. Schapiro, former SEC Chairman, Chair of the Climate Data Steering Committee and Vice Chair of GFANZ, serves as Chair of the Global Capacity Building Coalition.

GCBC Members are an unprecedented global coalition of UN agencies, MDBs, DFIs and philanthropies, public and private finance bodies and capacity building providers. GCBC members in aggregate work with more than 5,000 public and private financial institutions, 160 financial centers and exchanges and millions of finance professionals in almost every country in the world.
