Financial Modelling for Energy Transitions MINFin, FinTrack & FinCoRE

Course Objective
This course builds skills to assess the financial viability of national-level energy transition investments, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. It introduces three tools: MINFin, an Excel-based model for identifying climate finance gaps; FinTrack, a tracker for funding sources and access criteria; and FinCoRE, a cost estimator for renewable energy finance.
Learning Outcomes
- Practical knowledge of using MINFin to identify climate financing needs and gaps
- The ability to apply FinTrack to map funding sources and access requirements
- Insight into using FinCoRE for analyzing historical and projected cost of capital
- An understanding of strategies to address climate financing shortfalls
Why This Matters
Finance access remains a key barrier to energy transitions in low- and middle-income countries. This course equips learners with tools to identify financing gaps and plan more effective climate-aligned investments.
